  • Apply techniques to consciously shift between “Closed Mode” (execution) and “Open Mode” (strategic thought) to foster innovation

From Analysis to Action with the TOWS Matrix

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the purpose of the TOWS Matrix as a strategic action framework
  • Identify the four categories of strategic options generated by the TOWS Matrix (S-O, W-O, S-T, W-T)
  • Apply the TOWS Matrix to convert a standard SWOT analysis into a set of actionable strategic initiatives for an event

A Systems View of the Event Ecosystem

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain the components of the Iceberg Model (Events, Patterns, Structures, Mental Models)
  • Use the Iceberg Model to diagnose the root cause of a common event-related problem
